Scrape off chunks of debris or dried lumps of glue from the end cap. However, in most cases the loose piece will need to be reattached with contact cement. Finally, rub away any dried glue around the edges with your finger. End caps and other laminate edges sometimes come loose and can get broken off if not reglued, but as long as the particleboard backer is in good condition, the fix is simple. If the countertop is newer, first try to iron the end cap back on with a medium-hot iron to reactivate the glue.

How To Re Glue A Laminate Countertop by homeguides.sfgate.com
However, the damage can usually be repaired easily by even a novice to home repairs. Heat the iron and run it carefully over the towel to heat the old glue. Push a flat screwdriver or butter knife under the loosened laminate to create a larger space if it is not on the end of the countertop. If the loosened portion is on the end of the counter, a cotton ball will be easier to use. Brush the contact cement onto the air-dryed surfaces to create a white film. Start from the portion of countertop that is still properly glued, and firmly push or roll the laminate down toward the closest edge to remove any air bubbles or gaps between the surfaces. Leave it in place for 16 to 24 hours while the contact cement dries. If not, a second application of contact cement may be required.

When the plastic top separates from the lower surface, you may be tempted to replace the entire countertop — an expensive venture. The towel protects the laminate from being burned by the iron; the heated iron will allow the laminate to pop up further for proper cleaning. Push the cotton swab into the space made by the screwdriver or butter knife and clean both the underside of the plastic laminate and the surface it attaches to, known as the substrate. Remove as much adhesive as possible and allow it to air dry. Place a thicker towel across the counter and lay the weight over the top of it. Remove the towel and inspect the countertop to make sure it adhered properly. Wipe off any residual adhesive with a cotton ball or old rag dipped in acetone.
How To Glue Laminate To A Countertop by doityourself.com
Buff and sand the existing countertop until it is dull and very flat. This is done by adding 1 inch on all sides of the laminate pieces. Therefore, brush the cement onto the existing countertop and to the back of the laminate pieces. The cement itself will not feel sticky, but will immediately bond with other contact cement. Solvent based contact cement will set very fast but is extremely flammable.
If the laminate is exactly the size of the countertop then there is a very good chance that you will not achieve that perfect fit the first time. Laminate provides a very durable and waterproof work surface. Then clean up all of the dust so it does not get mixed into the glue. It is very important that the laminate pieces and the countertop do not touch each other. Water based cement will take a long time to dry though this is not flammable. To avoid this, simply make the piece a bit bigger than necessary and the use a router to cut off any of the overhand. Position the dowel rods from the front to the back and ensure that they span the entire length of the countertop. Once the laminate is in the correct position, pull out the rods and roll over the laminate surface to secure it in place. This will simply ensure that the laminate will completely bond together as well as prevent air bubbles.

I received my product in a box much bigger than the product with no packing material to keep it from flopping around in the box causing some to leak out and making a mess. Used titebond for the longest time and a friend recommended this product. Plus, only one side of the boxed was taped securely and the other two sides was not taped at all, thus receiving the package with one side broken open thus leaving my glue being exposed to the elements.
Best Glue For Loose Formica Plastic Laminate by fixmycabinet.com
The only adhesive that you should use to re-stick loose plastic laminate with is contact cement. If you are re-laminating an area that is near heat sources make sure that you do not use a non-flammable contact glue. Another problem with it is that it can only be used when the surrounding atmospheric temperature is above seventy degrees. By all appearances, your temporary fix with the wrong type of adhesive may hold initially but mark my words, the bond will not last. My strongest suggestion though is to purchase the glue either from a cabinet shop or cabinet supply company.
You know, they will even give you some pointers on how to re-glue loose mica too. After about a year of being fine all of the sudden the laminate would begin to let loose. Always use a flammable grade contact adhesive in any high heat areas.
You should also take into consideration where the coffee pot is located in relation to where you are making the cabinetry repair using this type of glue. If you break the rules, you will only regret your decision at a later date. Red die stuck inside contact cement is a rough combination to remove from surrounding surfaces.
You could just barley pull on a loose piece that was on a door and it would almost effortlessly peal off.
